Growing up in a family that owned a real estate company in Massachusetts, she witnessed firsthand the dedication and passion it takes to succeed in the field. Her journey to Vermont began with her first visit when she felt a deep connection with the state’s natural beauty and outdoor lifestyle.
Upon moving to Vermont, Laine joined the market’s #1 real estate agency and was quickly recruited by one of the agency’s most successful sales teams. She has spent the past five+ years breaking team sales records while handling the demands of a fast-paced, high-demand market. For nearly 30 years, Chris von Trapp has been a pillar of the Northwestern Vermont real estate market, guiding countless clients through some of their most important decisions. His career is built on a foundation of expert market knowledge, a common-sense approach and a dedication to getting every detail just right. With a background in Plant & Soil Science, he brings a unique perspective to land transactions, ensuring his clients benefit from both his real estate and environmental expertise. But Chris’ story doesn’t stop there – he’s also part of Vermont’s rich history as a member of the von Trapp family, whose legacy was celebrated in The Sound of Music. Like his grandparents before him, Chris
chose to build his life in Vermont, raising his three children here, surrounded by the same natural beauty his family has cherished for generations. Chris is an avid sailor and enjoys homesteading and gardening with his wife Kelly.
Chris is also a proud member of the internationally recognized von Trapp family, depicted in the classic movie, “The Sound of Music.” Like his grandparents, who settled their family in Vermont decades ago, Chris has raised his 3 children here and enjoys the outdoor life with his wife, Kelly.
Sheila Jacobs
Sheila began her real estate career in 1994 at the Northwestern Vermont Board of REALTORS® and enjoyed serving its members in many capacities for over ten years. In 2005, Sheila became a licensed Realtor which allowed her to work directly with buyers and sellers. Sheila's proficiency with technology, coupled with her experience and enthusiasm, have proven to be an award-winning combination. In 2017, Sheila made another advancement in her career by partnering with Chris von Trapp. As a member of the successful von Trapp Team, Sheila's valuable experience is an asset in serving both listing clients and buyers.
Claire Smith
Claire is a licensed real estate agent and oversees the marketing and closing coordination for Team von Trapp. She has over 25 years’ experience in marketing and owned her own advertising agency for 12 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. In her role on the Chris von Trapp Team, her goal is to provide clients with exceptional customer service and attention to detail whether marketing their homes or helping buyers through the closing process. She has two daughters and lives in Colchester.
